Otis Report Again Proves that Art Works–Statewide!

The Otis Report on the Creative Economy of the LA Region was expanded this year to include statewide data for the first time.  The report has been a critical tool in arts and arts education advocacy efforts in Southern California since it debuted in 2007.  The 2013 report was released in February in an event at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica.

It then became the centerpiece of a February 12 hearing of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Arts in Sacramento, chaired by Senator Ted Lieu, who announced that day his plan to introduce a bill in the Senate to restore funding to the California Arts Council.  Assemblymember Ian Calderon, also a member of that committee and Chair of the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media announced he would sponsor a similar bill in the Assembly.
