Breaking News: $10 Million Increase for California Arts Council Passes Assembly Subcommittee!

State arts funding got a big boost today as the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 4 approved a $10 million increase.  Yes votes were Chairman Tom Daly (D-Anaheim) and Assemblymembers Adrin Nazarian (D-Sherman Oaks) and Kevin Mullin (D-South San Francisco).  Abstaining was Assemblymember Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach).  Voting no was Assemblymember Donald Wagner (R-Irvine), who had signed an earlier letter supporting increased arts funding.

This is only the latest stop on the road to passage, but Californians for the Arts is cautiously optimistic that we will prevail–IF WE CONTINUE TO FAX THOSE SUPPORT LETTERS TO THE BUDGET COMMITTEE CHAIRS!  If you have not done so already, we urge you to take a few minutes to do it TODAY!
